There is a growing awareness amongst educators of web 2.0 tools such as blogs, wikis, social bookmarks, photo sharing and rss feeds and some interest in its potential for use in the classroom. As with any emerging technology, adoption and implementation needs to be a considered process and links should be made to practical, relevent and appropriate use within an educational context.

IDevice Icon Scenario Objectives

This scenario aims to explore the potential of successful implementation of web 2.0 tools in classroom settings and also to outline the pitfalls that could be associated with the use of these tools in an open internet environment.

In exploring these issues this scenario will provide a structure and guidelines that would be useful for other school communities as they consider how they may adopt and implement web 2.0 technologies in their own schools; thereby ensuring that educators are making fully informed and critical decisions about their use of educational technologies rather than just jumping on the latest bandwagon.

In this scenario we follow Stratford Primary School as they learn more about web 2.0 advantages and disadvantages, how they might use web 2.0 to support learning outcomes for their students, and how they would go about implementing its use in a sustainable way.
